Zombies Get Fit

Losing weight and getting healthy, one shambling step at a time.

Thanks, Foot Pain, and Weigh-in

<3 Thanks so much for all the half support you guys!  It means so much to me!  You guys are seriously the best.

Today I was running for the train because I was late (I’m always late) and my foot twinged and now it feels like someone is stabbing me every time I take a step.  I don’t really know what’s wrong with it.  It better not be a stress fracture!  I was going to go to Nike Run Club tomorrow!

I’m hoping my foot feels better as soon as possible, but my eating has been pretty good regardless.  Today I ate cottage cheese, soup with a roll, cherries, a hard boiled egg, a piece of fake fried chicken, and some more soup.  I’ve also scheduled in some hot chocolate.

The big test for this week will be the weekend (isn’t it always?) Most of my friends are leaving town to go back to Canada or Ireland or the Highlands or wherever they are from next week, so this weekend is our big goodbye bash.  Friday night the girls and I are all going out for dinner, and Saturday is a pub crawl AND a party for my Edinburghian friend who is moving to Norway on Monday.  Don’t these people know that I’m trying to lose my stress weight?! Don’t they care?!?!

Also I think I’m just going to throw my weigh-ins at the bottom of my daily posts.  As you can probably tell, I’ve been hovering around ten pounds higher than my usual weight. UNACCEPTABLE!

Call me crazy, but these incidents sound remarkably like something out of science fiction. Maybe it’s something, maybe it’s nothing, but I’m seeing too much that indicates the beginnings of a Class 2 zombie outbreak to not be somewhat alarmed.

Shit, fuck. Zombies.

…D:
NEED AXE NOW.

aaaahhhhhh zombies, and just to add to that, we’ve just had a woman die in the UK from rabies…

I wanna buy a machete and get my loft floored asap.

Finally…what my kind has been preparing for.  Better watch out, we can run now!

Me looking ridiculous, also note the laundry hanging in the background. Classssssssssssss.

Half Recap

So now that an appropriate amount of time has passed, and I have the house to myself for writing, here is a recap of the Edinburgh Half Marathon.  This is a pretty boring entry, as I’m having a lot of difficulty putting the whole experience into words.  This race was such a huge deal to me and I almost cried during it like five times I was so proud of myself.  I can’t explain it.  It was such a huge deal in my life.  Before the cut, I’d just like to say thanks to Amy for the entry to the half, as I probably never would have had the guts to run one otherwise.

MY OFFICIAL TIME!!

My official time for the Edinburgh half marathon was 2:10:17. WHAAAAT? That’s five minutes better than what I thought!  2:10 is what I was aiming for when I was training seriously.

IMAGINE WHAT I’M CAPABLE OF IF I’VE ACTUALLY RUN AT ALL THAT MONTH?!

Seriously debating signing up for the Great Scottish Run and the Amsterdam half marathon.

Today I am re-re-re-re-re-re-re-recommitting to the whole healthy lifestyle thing.  I think that the heat makes it a little easier today because it’s just too hot to eat here in Scotland (I never thought I’d say that.)  So far today I’ve eaten some cottage cheese and some watermelon, and hopefully I can trick my boyfriend into making me a salad for lunch because I am TOO PAINED to get up.

Weight this morning: 148.6, oh god.

Alive!

Unofficial time, 2:15:19, but I didn’t cross the start line for awhile so I think it might go down a bit.

Longer post incoming (probably tomorrow, I’m tuckered.)

All laid out for tomorrow! So nervous!!

All laid out for tomorrow! So nervous!!

Oh god, I had my first half marathon freakout dream last night.  I’m so unprepared!  I ran 10km the other day and thought I was going to die, and it’s been so warm here in Scotland. The warmest it’s ever been since I got here! Come on!

The half starts at stupid am (8) so I’m taking a 613 bus from Glasgow which means I’ve got to be up and ready to go by like 545.  That’s so early!  My bus gets into Edinburgh at 732, so I’ve got literally 13 minutes to get to baggage check and put my stuff there, and then only 15 minutes after that to go to the bathroom and find my corral.  This is not enough time! It’s the earliest bus!  I can’t possibly get up any earlier!

My previous goal was to finish under 210, but I think I’ll be lucky to get it under 230.  But that’s ok! It’s my first half so I should just enjoy it I guess.  Since I have to stay in Scotland until October anyways I can run the Great Scottish Run in September which will be a good PR for me since it’s on my home turf (Glasgow) insofar as anywhere I’ve only lived for a year can be home turf.

Anyways it’s going to be crazy warm on Sunday, Edinburgh is usually pretty windy so I’m going to hope for that.  Hopefully I won’t overheat or anything.  I guess my biggest fear is my bus being late.  So worried…

Race Number Has Arrived!!

Hopefully I don’t pass out or something because I definitely put my dad as my emergency contact despite the fact that he lives on another continent.

I’m terribly unprepared for this race by the way, haven’t run for weeks. Stress and its partners crippling depression and binge eating can go right to hell.

Roll on Sunday and the continuation of this week’s new start!
